A significant political controversy has ignited in Haryana after the body of an unidentified woman was discovered inside a suitcase in Rohtak. The Congress party has raised concerns, claiming that the victim may be one of their own workers. The woman’s body was found on Friday near the Sampla bus stand in a large blue suitcase, prompting authorities to notify the Sampla police station.
Upon arriving at the crime scene, the Special Forensic Lab (SFL) team conducted an initial investigation. It was determined that the victim was a woman aged between 20 and 22. A scarf was found wrapped around her neck, and mehendi (henna) markings were observed on her hands.
Police Investigation and Murder Suspicions
Bijendra Singh, the SHO at Sampla police station, stated that the circumstances suggested the woman was murdered and her body discarded on the roadside. “We received information about a dead body being discovered in a suitcase along the highway. After our investigation, it appears that this young woman was murdered, and her body was abandoned here. We are continuing with the investigation, and further action will follow after filing the necessary reports,” Singh explained.
The police are working diligently to identify the victim and uncover the details surrounding her death.
Political Allegations and Congress Involvement
A political firestorm ensued when Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra claimed that the victim was a party worker named Himani Narwal. Narwal had reportedly accompanied Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Batra further alleged that Narwal was an active participant in Congress campaigns alongside Bhupinder Hooda and Deepinder Hooda.
Condemnation and Calls for Justice
Congress Haryana president Bhupinder Singh Hooda has strongly condemned the brutal murder, labeling it as a “serious stain on the law and order situation” in the state. Hooda has called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident and demanded swift justice for the victim’s family.
“The tragic and barbaric murder of Congress worker Himani Narwal in Rohtak is deeply saddening and shocking. I offer my condolences to her family and pay tribute to her,” Hooda wrote on social media. “The discovery of her body in such a gruesome manner is a grave incident, reflecting the state’s deteriorating law and order. An impartial, high-level investigation is necessary, and the government must ensure that justice is served promptly. The culprits must face the harshest punishment.”
